Vineyards
The foundation of every wine we make begins in the vineyard. From the volcanic soils of Brookshire to the alluvial gravel of Helena Vista and the cortina-rich soils of Dean York, each site is farmed with precision and respect. Distinct in terroir but unified in purpose, our estate vineyards yield wines of depth, elegance, and enduring character.

Brookshire vineyard is located at Brookshire ranch, a 565-acre property of wild oaks, native grasses, and habitat for area wildlife. The northernmost vineyard blocks are made up of Los Robles clay loam with gravelly, very deep, and well-drained soils formed in material weathered from basaltic and andesitic rock. The southern blocks rest on soils of red hill clay loam series of 37-50% gravel, intermixed with tuff particles and fractured rhyolite. Julien selected four blocks from which to make Brandon Gregory red wines. The remainder of the fruit grown at Brookshire vineyard is sold to wineries in the Napa and Sonoma wine regions.

Helena Vista Vineyard sits on the 621-acre helena vista ranch, the majority of which is native and undeveloped. Land preparation for a 22-acre vineyard began in 2021, and a planting of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, petit verdot, and syrah followed in 2022.
The western vineyard blocks are made up of the suther-laughlin loam series, a mixed series of topsoil sitting on weathered sandstone and typically found in the knights valley hillsides. East vineyard blocks are planted on a gravelly alluvial fan made up of the cortina loam series.
The Brandon Gregory Estate portfolio will include future wines produced from select blocks of the Helena Vista Vineyard.

Dean York Vineyard lies in the afternoon shadows of the Mayacamas Mountains, with its entire 2.5 acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. Well-draining, Cortina-rich soils composed of gravelly alluvium, sandy clay, and loam showcase an array of various hues from brown to dark gray that meander throughout the soil’s landscape. Vineyard row orientation spans from east to west, with most of the vineyard surrounding our family home. The fruit from this site is meticulously farmed with supreme attention to detail and is reserved for our Dean York Cabernet Sauvignon under the Illation by Brandon Gregory label.
